This week we have learnt a lot about some European capitals. We started our days figuring out how much children actually know about these cities and, we also watched some videos and learnt about monuments and important places. We did a very fun team quiz and posters to show the relevant information of the capitals, just like a big travel guide. When in Rome, we learnt about the Roman Empire and one of its secret for its longevity: the military power. Furthermore, we made our own Roman shields with cardboard and paper and we decorated them! At last, we finished our week with some refreshing water games!

This week was super exciting! We made a Japanese buffet after learning about the amazing country of Japan and practicing making sushi in our cooking class, we drew different Japanese dishes and drinks to put on our cooking table. We also learned about the luxurious city of Dubai and the highest skyscraper in the world: the Burj Khalifa. In groups we drew and painted different parts, cut it out and stuck it on cardboard to give it this amazing appearance. Finally, after learning about China, we talked about how it is the factory of the world. We then learned to make colored bracelets.

On Monday we went to Indonesia, one of the most beautiful places in the world. After learning some basic facts about the country, we also learned that traditional tribes used to wear necklaces made out of flowers. They looked great, so we decided to make our own! Next, we visited Sydney, which is not the capital of Australia, but it is one of its most important cities. After watching a short video on the country and playing a quiz, we talked about one of the most popular sports in the country, surfing! We saw some photos of surfing athletes and we began making our arts and crafts activity. In teams, we designed some finger surfboards and then the students made the wave using blue paper and their imagination.

Samoa couldn't be further away from Spain, but we still managed to get there. After learning about the culture and the tribesmen, we learned about how during religious ceremonies they wear masks to bring good luck and keep away bad spirits. We also like good luck so we decided to make some masks as well. On Thursday, we learned about the capital of New Zealand, Auckland. We learned about the myth of its formation and the people who live here (who are outnumbered by their sheep!). We then learned that the most popular sport in the country is rugby and that the best team in the world , the All Blacks, is from there. The members of the All Blacks do the Haka before every match, a traditional Maori war dance intended to scare away enemies before battle. In two big groups, students had fifteen minutes to choreograph their Haka and show the rest of the class. Very scary!
