This week's Summerlim program in Group E was an absolute whirlwind of excitement and creativity! With the theme "Around the World in 80 Days," we embarked on a thrilling journey filled with sports, culinary delights, and a unique art project that left us soaring with joy. In cooking class students had the choice between making mouthwatering ravioli or a heavenly tiramisu. Under the guidance of a talented chef, we kneaded dough, blended flavours, and created “culinary masterpieces” representing our journey through Europe this week that were taken home for parents to try. However, the highlight of the week was undoubtedly the papier mache hot air balloon project. Armed with newspapers, glue, and paints, we crafted and decorated hot air balloons to help transport the students on our journey around the world.

Last week's summer school program was an absolute blast, filled with exciting adventures and engaging activities. The highlight of the week was our beach trip, where we basked in the sun, played in the waves and tried new water sports like paddle boarding.

Back in the classroom, we explored our artistic side by working with air dry clay and the tactile experience and the freedom to express ourselves through art was truly inspiring. Students sculpted models linked to their “around the world in…” theme.

But the excitement didn't end there as we also put our STEM skills to the test in a tallest tower competition. Armed with various materials, we brainstormed, designed, and constructed towers that would withstand the forces of gravity!

As the cooking class wasn’t mentioned last week, we will focus on it in this review as they support the summer school program excellently and we can really see the progress in student ability over the three weeks. The cooking class was a true highlight as we dived into the flavours of Asia (week 2) and Oceania. We learned to create delectable dishes from various Asian countries, mastering the art of sushi rolling in week two and this week the students focused on producing pastry based delights from Oceanic countries. It was a culinary journey that tantalized our taste buds and broadened our cultural horizons. Beyond the fun-filled activities, the summer school provided a supportive and inclusive environment for personal growth and social bonding. The children are forming lasting friendships while working together in the kitchen and cheering each other on during the water sports adventures.
